About ALIS Ltd 

The Israel Anti-Piracy Organization 'ALIS', was established on the 17th May, 1993 by the Israeli legal distributors who are the legal representatives of the 7 American cinema studios including: Disney Corporation, Paramount, Universal, Fox-20th Century, Sony, MGM and Warner Brothers and of the MPAA organization. ALIS represents local Israeli video companies such as: Forum Film Ltd., Globus United, United King Video, Hed Artzi, etc.

ALIS's main role is to fight audio visual piracy in all its forms such as digital, Internet piracy, pirate retailers, pirate labs, and distribution centers, they have become a serious problem to the existence of the Movies Industry.
In order to make fight against piracy effective and substantial, ALIS joined to the " Israeli Intellectual Property forum", for that we became members in the Israeli Chamber of Commerce, which centralizes all Intellectual Property issues under one roof, and constantly lobbies the Israeli Government, all for the purpose of passing the new Copyright and Digital law which is still under review of the Israeli justice Dep. in the Israeli government.

Copyright piracy has become an easy way to make a living for the pirates who are connected directly or indirectly to organized crime in Israel, and makes huge profits from selling pirate products.

ALIS operates against copyrights violators in criminal and civil procedures.
- Criminal procedure: ALIS assists the IP police units, to fight against pirate centers, and retailers, labs, etc.
- Civil procedure: Issuing civil search warrants from the court to take action against illegal action in the area. To emphasize the severe piracy situation in Israel, we are informed of the fact that during 2005 there were 500 legal retail shops, compared to the statistics during 2006 when only 200 active legal retailers remained, a decrease of more than 50% damage estimated to this industry.
